Black Rice Biryani

Preparation time: 2 Hours
Cooking time: 40 minutes
 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Red Rice (Soaked for 2 hours)
  • 3 tbsp Ghee
  • 1 tsp Jeera
  • 2-3 Tej Patta
  • 4-5 Cloves
  • 4-5 Green Cardamom
  • 4-5 Black Peppercorns
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 2 tbsp Ginger Garlic & Green Chili crushed
  • 1 cup Vegetables of choice
  • 2 Tomatoes 3 Onions pureed
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/2 cup Soya Vadi / Chunks
  • 3-4 cups Water
  • 2 tbsp Curd
  • A pinch of Saffron
  • A few Mint Leaves
  • A pinch of Garam Masala
  • 1 tbsp Badshah Biryani Pulav Masala

Method:

  1. Soak your rice for 1 to 2 hours.
  2. In a pan heat up 2 tbsp ghee and add the jeera.
  3. Once the jeera starts to sputter add tej patta, cloves, green cardamom, black Peppercorns, cinnamon stick, ginger garlic and green chili.
  4. Cook for two minutes before adding you vegetables.
  5. Sautee for two minutes then add the tomato puree.
  6. Let the mixture cook for a few minutes then add turmeric, red chili powder and garam masala.
  7. Then add your soya chunks and 3 cups of water.
  8. Add salt to taste.
  9. Cover with a lid and let it cook for 5 to 10 minutes.
  10. Once cooked add your yogurt.
  11. Now add your rice, 1 tbsp ghee, gulab jal, mint leaves, Badshah biryani pulav masala and saffron.
  12. Add 1 cup water.
  13. Cover with a lid and let cook for 20 minutes or until cooked.
  14. Enjoy it with your family and friends.
