Instructions to make rasam rice recipe

  1. Cook the rice and keep it aside.
  2. Extract tamarind juice by squeezing the soaked tamarind in water. Discard the pulp and set the tamarind juice aside.
  3. Heat ghee or oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
  4. Add cumin seeds, black pepper, curry leaves, and asafoetida. Saute for a few seconds.
  5. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
  6. Now, add the tamarind juice and turmeric powder to the pan. Mix well.
  7. Add salt and rasam powder. Stir everything together.
  8. Let the rasam simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavours to blend.
  9. Once the rasam is cooked, turn off the heat and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
